Welcome to the first edition of The Global Benchmarking Network Review.
Benchmarking is a proven and globally-accepted means of improving performance, learning from others and applying techniques to increase efficiency, cost-savings and competitiveness. This magazine aims to provide a snapshot of benchmarking activity from around the world and is the first ever truly global publication on this subject. As such, it is a significant milestone in benchmarking history.
This publication has been produced on behalf of the Global Benchmarking Network and is being distributed worldwide which makes this the most widely-read publication this dynamic business area has ever seen. In these pages you will find out about all the latest techniques and tools available, highlighting activity from around the world, written by all the leading practitioners and experts in the field.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who kindly lent their time and expertise in contributing to the magazine. In particular, I would like to thank Peter Heisig and his team at IZB in Berlin for providing such excellent material. Also, thanks must go to Terry Pilcher and the Small Business Service for supporting the publication; and Elina Linden, of the SBS, for liasing so expertly between the GBN members and the production team.
Happy Benchmarking!
Philip Cunliffe
